Reporting from the Midwest Community Free Papers Spring Conference

Craig and Kirk from Page 1 attended this year’s MCFP Spring Conference in Altoona, Iowa, March 13 and 14. This year marks the first conference to formally include the Minnesota group, which recently merged with the Midwest organization, joining over 150 free papers from Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri and Illinois.

“The Spring Conference is an important one for us,” Craig said. “We get to visit with a number of existing customers, as well as connecting with new prospects. The atmosphere at this show is very conducive to doing business.”

“That’s one of the things I’ve always loved about this show,” added Kirk. “The attendees are very open to talking with you—not like some conferences where everyone seems to be running from one event to another, with no time to talk. Here you get a chance to sit down with publishers and really talk through issues. Everyone here wants to learn new things.

“While we print papers for some publishers, others may have their own newspaper press. But we got to talk to quite a few of them about the advantages in having us print the items that their customers might want, but they don’t have the capability to print. Like color or glossy pieces, or stitched and trimmed items, for example.”

Craig and Kirk are already making plans to attend the 2016 MCFP Spring Conference.
