Who knows how long it will last—but we have some good news from the USPS
The USPS Board of Governors has announced that they will not seek any price changes—for “changes,” of course, you should read “increases”—through January. (It’s not like price reductions were even under consideration.) It’s short-term, but at least we’re covered through the end of the holiday mailing season and into January, and maybe even into the rest of the first quarter.
The official announcement goes on to say that the USPS “will continue to evaluate pricing strategies and will communicate about any potential price change filings in early 2015, including advance notice to customers of any price changes.” Of course, this advance notice to industry regarding price changes is a statutory requirement to which the USPS is subject.
